Lesson 1: Be petty. 😂

I have decided to transmute my rage into something useful.

Women are being abused and killed in South Africa, and I am angry. I am tired. And I keep asking myself what I can actually do with that anger.

Whenever I share pieces of my own story on here, thousands of you tune in. You laugh with me. You gasp. You send the voice notes. You say, “Rina, the way you tell stories 😭.”

So I thought… what if we turned all that listening into something tangible?

My first mini comedy show.

I’m getting on stage, telling stories, spilling some tea, probably being wildly inappropriate, and doing something that comes very naturally to me: making people laugh.

But this time, the laughter has somewhere to go.

Every cent raised from ticket sales will go towards helping abused women GET OUT.

It can be an Uber to court.
Transport to somewhere safe.
A nanny so a woman can go for a job interview.
Childcare while she attends an appointment.
A small piece of financial breathing room that helps her begin again.

I know a comedy night cannot solve gender-based violence or abuse. But when women gather, when women laugh, shit does change.

Perhaps a room full of women laughing together can help one woman make her next move.

So, on 21 November, I’m taking the stories, the rage, the ridiculousness, the things that made me cry and the things that, in hindsight, are actually fucking hilarious… and we’re turning them into money that can help another woman.
